As I approach the threshold of my sixtieth year,
There is a sense of contentment and calm,
For most of the things that I hold dear,
Have been placed in the centre of my palm.
All of my children have gone out in the world
And found their successes in various ways;
Watching the events of their lives unfurl
Has brought flavour and spice to my days.
Most amazing of all is the immortality I’ve found
As the lives of my grandchildren begin;
The miracle of their births makes my life round
For it is me from whom they descend.
We are born, grow up, fall in love and multiply;
So the cycle continues, even after we die.
